Mr Jean-Michel BLANQUER
Minister for Education, Youth and Sport, French Government
Jean-Michel Blanquer holds a doctorate in law from the Université Panthéon-Assas and a Master's degree in politics from the Institut d'études politiques de Paris (Sciences Po).
Mr Blanquer was appointed in 1998 Director of the Institut des hautes études de l'Amérique latine (IHEAL) at the University of Paris Sorbonne-Nouvelle. In 2004, he became Rector (representative of the French ministry of education) of the French Guiana Academy.
In 2006, he joined the office of the Minister of National Education, Higher Education and Research as Deputy Director. In March 2007, he took up the position of Rector of the Créteil Academy. Between 2009 and 2017, he was appointed Director General of School Education at the Ministry of National Education, then Director General of the ESSEC group (École supérieure des sciences économiques et commerciales).
He has been Minister of National Education, Youth and Sport since May 2017.
