Dr Fabien QUÉTIER
Senior consultant, Biotope
Fabien is an ‘undisciplined’ ecologist and senior consultant at BIOTOPE. He advises private and public decision makers on the implementation of the mitigation hierarchy (to avoid, minimize, and offset impacts) to projects and programs in various sectors (agriculture, mining, oil & gas, energy, road & rail, etc.) by designing and leading the preparation of successful biodiversity studies (including Critical Habitat and High Conservation Value assessments), biodiversity action plans, and mitigation and offset management plans. This requires dealing with the technical, economic, legal and institutional challenges of conserving and restoring biodiversity and ecosystem services, as well as complex conservation – development trade-offs . Fabien also supports policy and project design in conservation, its governance and financing. Fabien co-chairs the thematic group on impact mitigation and compensation of IUCN's commission on ecosystem management.
